| Musical Director |
|
Helen Brind is a choral director, singing
and instrumental teacher who has lived and worked in Dorset and the
surrounding areas since the mid-1980s. Helen studied Music at Southampton
University, having previously attended the Royal College of Music (Junior
Department) where she took lessons in singing, piano and trumpet. In 1985,
on leaving university, Helen came to Dorset and soon became involved with
several local musical organisations, as a performer, tutor or director. In
addition to her teaching qualifications (CTABRSM and PGCE) Helen holds the
DipABRSM in Singing Performance and was for several years a member of the
Bournemouth Symphony Chorus (Semi-Chorus) and the Bournemouth Bach Choir,
a group with which she has also appeared several times as a soloist. Helen is a member of the Association of British Choral Directors and has conducted in venues such as Salisbury Cathedral and St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. In addition to her post as Musical Director of Yeovil Chamber Choir, Helen is the conductor of several other local choirs including the Dorset Singers (regular performers at the annual Stourhead ‘Festival of the Voice’), the Dorset Youth Singers and Weymouth Choral Society, where she has been the musical director since October 2000. In addition to her choral appointments, Helen has a busy private teaching practice and has been a peripatetic singing teacher for the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership since 2003. She also holds regular singing workshops and is a tutor for Wiltshire County Council Adult Education Service. |
